Our Story

Two smiling people, James and Natasha, taking a selfie in front of a stone building with a window and some plants in pots nearby.

Following the challenges and changes caused by recent global events we felt it was time for a new adventure and decided on a move into hospitality. We couldn’t believe our luck when Pipistrelle House appeared on Rightmove, it provided the perfect setting to embrace a more rural, slower pace of life along with the opportunity to share that with others in the form of home-from-home luxury getaways.

Whilst the holiday cottages could have simply been smartened up with a lick of paint, a desire to make them more environmentally friendly (and a little more spacious) drove us knock down walls and rip out boilers.

We’ve installed solar panels with battery back-up to provide as much green electricity as we can, replaced the old LPG gas central heating systems with infrared heating panels, supplemented by highly efficient log burners for the very coldest of weather and we’ve significantly increased the loft insulation.

We both love to craft and create so wherever possible we’ve re-used, recycled and up-cycled in order to limit the introduction of newly manufactured items. To further help protect the environment we have chosen non-toxic paints, finishes and materials where possible.

Our focus has been to create gorgeously snug holiday homes where our guests can relax, recharge and enjoy all that the Blackdown Hills and surrounding areas have to offer.
