Check-in for all three cottages is from 3pm.
Check-out for The Sett is 10am and for The Holt and The Den is 11am.
If you would like slightly earlier check-in or later check-out this is often possible but does depend on whether there are bookings either side are and how much time we have to get the cottage ready. Please ask in advance giving us as much notice as possible and we will do our best to accommodate your wishes.
-
If we are on-site we will leave the cottage open for you and the key will be inside. If not, the key will be in a lock-box (each cottage has one on the trellis in its outdoor seating area) and we’ll send you the code the day before your stay.
-
We have plenty of space for parking and can accommodate all sizes of vehicles.
-
Yes, all three cottages have Wifi and the Superfast Broadband gives excellent download speeds.
-
Up to two medium sized dogs are allowed in The Sett.
The other two cottages are dog-free.
-
We respectfully ask that dog owners adhere to the following during their stay in The Sett, please:
do not leave your dog unattended in the cottage as this can lead to barking or damage
keep your dog on a lead when outside of the gated garden of The Sett
clear up all dog waste and put is in the brown bin next to the front door
place water (and food) bowls on the grey mat provided to prevent damage to the wooden floor
always supervise your dog, particularly if you think it may be able to escape from the cottage garden — we live in a rural area with a lot of livestock in the adjoining fields
clear up any accidents as soon as possible after they occur to prevent irreparable damage
-
Spare food/water bowls
In case you have forgotten yours, there are a couple of bowls provided
Dog waste bags
Again, if you have forgotten yours there are a couple provided. If you need to buy some, they are sold in the community shop in Churchinford
Throws
We know that many dogs sit on furniture and beds at home so asking you to keep them on the floor is unfair to you and your dog(s). If you could please cover furniture with the throws provided we will be very grateful as this helps keep everything fresher for future guests
Old towels for muddy paws
There is a crate of towels by the front door for cleaning off muddy paws
Carpet cleaner
We recognise that cream-coloured rugs and carpets are not ideal for dogs (we installed these before deciding to invite pets to stay) so, in case of any accidents we’ve put some carpet cleaner in the basket under the sink

We are fortunate to have a large selection of pubs tin our area that serving fantastic food. The pubs are popular so it’s always a good idea to book in advance if you can. These are our favourites:
The York Inn - our local with a good selection of beers, approx 1.5 miles away (so walkable for most if you fancy more than one!), great atmosphere, a varied calendar of events throughout the year and a fantastic selection of pies.
The Sidmouth Arms - second closest pub at just over 2 miles away, lovely for a sunny walk followed by lunch in the large garden or a cosy Sunday roast on a cold winters evening, serves good pub grub all day/evening.
The Holman Clavel Inn - a short drive (4 miles) away, provides a friendly welcome and fantastic home cooked food using local produce. Throughout the summer months live music is a regular feature.
The Half Moon Inn - at a 10-15 minutes drive away it’s well worth the effort, particularly for the fabulous views that can be enjoyed from the cute dining huts in the garden. The food is of a higher quality than your average pub grub and the seasonal specials include a variety of delicious cuisines from around the world.
The Drewe Arms - just over 15 mins away in the pretty village of Broadhembury, this is another one for the foodies, serving an ever changing selection of exquisite dishes it’s definitely more akin to fine dining than pub grub but not quite as pricey as The Candlelight Inn.
The Otter Inn - a bit further away (around 20 mins drive), great for enjoying a tipple in the large sunny beer garden with the river Otter running right alongside - so close you can dip your toes if the mood takes you!
The Cotley Inn - a 25 min drive away but well worth the effort. Selling award winning food and delivering glorious views this is the pub to visit if you want to treat yourself.
